Son of the late James Taylor Mackee Kerr, Ythan View Hotel, Methlick and of Elizabeth Wallace, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.
The SS Tiberton was sailing from Narvik to Middlesborough with a cargo of iron ore when it was struck by a single torpedo from a German U-boat and sank without trace. All 34 crew were killed.
